Northampton Carnival Features Page ... This years weekend started the same as the last with a mix of styles, music and local talent in the market square on Friday, 13th June it opened with acoustic guitar from our very own Corrine Lucy, we then had Jason Har-Q Williams performing a mix of R'NB and rap. Michael Hinch was the next to perform on stage entertaining the crowd with his mix of songs. Joe Rhone was the next on stage as he perfomed his trademark 147 song, we then had another act performing some R'NB before cornerstone finished the night off with some reggae songs. The crowd was a little disappointing but otherwise they enjoyed themselves. Saturday started the same way as last year with an amazing collaboration of effort from people and organisers for the 36 entrants in the carnival parade. Everybody was in a great mood as bus after bus turned up with paraders and schools eager for the start of this year amazing event. The crowds seemed larger this year as people crammed into the park for the pre carnival stage performances and funfair with many stalls active too in people looking at them. The parade set off to a capacity crowd on route with huge numbers again lining the streets in the town centre and around all saints church. The parade rejoined the park after a long walk around the route for the crowds to welcome it back to the park. The crowds watched as the mystic crew again performed this year to dancing people as everyone enjoyed the atmosphere. Winners & Runners up '08 - Sunday brought another family day to come along too, with dancing and circus skills adorning the market square to bring the weekend to a close, chaplins stage school, razzle dazzles and the greek community danced around the square getting people to join in the dancing. It drew another excellent weekend of carnival fun to a close. |
